Innocente e Angelica
This is certainly one of the most stylish graves in the entire Melbourne General Cemetery. A memorial to Innocente and Angelica Vendramini, a couple who it seemed spent many decades of married life together (as symbolised by the linked hands on the grave).
As the gravestone itself says: "Requiescat In Pace". This Latin phrase meaning, "Rest in Peace", first started appearing on Christian burial stones as early as the fifth century.
The sculpture of the angel protecting the child is a very beautiful one.
