Foghorn Shed
This one is a little more complicated play on reflections. The foghorn shed was locked so my only view of it was to point the camera through the window that is reflecting the ocean view and white picket fence behind me. Then as we look through the shed we can see the sea through the window on the other side. This is a single take (no bracketing) so it shows the dynamic range of the D850.
But inside we catch a glimpse of the workings of the air compressor that powers the massive foghorn.
"The Foghorn was installed in 1929 and decommissioned in 1973. It was restored in early 2000 by a group of volunteers. It is the only operational G-type diaphone in the world. The building also houses a very rare Gardner kerosene engine.
Under ideal conditions the Foghorn can be heard approximately 30 km out to sea. Hearing protection is recommended."
