Ross Bakery Inn
Built around 1860 (*actually 1832), the Ross Bakery and Inn still provides comfortable accommodation and great food for the visitor today. There are two bakeries in Ross, but this one lays claim to being the "original". Both serve excellent food, and I can recommend their wide range of fine pies - real old fashioned pies.
On a warm sunny afternoon (it was still winter here, so not so warm) there is not a better place to sit and enjoy your coffee.
* Update: The current owners of the Ross Bakery Inn are underselling themselves! I think they take the date of 1860 from when the named changed to the Ross Bakery Inn. www.pinterest.com.au/pin/285697170087908336/
We now know that this building was constructed in 1832 for John Dickinson, a free settler who received a publican's license in 1833. He originally called this the Sherwood Castle (obviously because of his Nottinghamshire background). Sadly Dickinson died in 1836 aged just 39 and is buried in the Old Ross Burial Ground. lv-lv.facebook.com/groups/464183353788099/permalink/57320...
