Painting with Light
As photographers we have a special opportunity to create with light. Perhaps it explains some of our megalomaniac personalities (only joking), because in many sacred traditions God's first creation was with light: "Let there be light."
But we can't create scenes as spectacular as this, we can only register them on our camera sensors and hope that we won't do a disservice to it in our processing of that image. I was fortunate to see this. The timing was critical since it barely lasted a few minutes. Since I was driving away from the mountain, it was only that I happened to catch it in my rear vision mirror than made me stop the car.
I could easily have called this one, "A Mountain on Fire", but I'll save that for another time.
