Duck Reach Power Station
The Duck Reach Power Station on the South Esk River was the first publicly owned hydro electric station in the Southern Hemisphere. Built in 1895 it was designed to power Launceston (Australia's third oldest city). Those rusty pipes in the background funneled the water into the power generators, using gravity to speed the flow.
