Chalkhill blue

Having not been out butterflying in a week and having realised that chalkhill blues were out, I decided to make a shortish visit to Barnack this morning. It is the nearest spot to me that they are seen.

I did not find any for a long time, but just before I was going to leave I spotted one. Then I spotted a few more. The ones I saw were unusually placid given that it was hot and sunny.

I was particularly pleased with these 2 photos and none of the butterflies left their wings open for long while I was around.

Having seen the response I have added down in the comments a photo of the same butterfly taken when I was able to get close to it and plan what I took! I did not like that quite as much.
