Hair still wet from the ocean, dancing around the parking lot, nowhere to hide from the autumn sun, eventually I had Danielle stand, close her eyes, let it all envelop her. The warmth of the air, the sounds of the ocean, the birds fighting over trash.

 

I had been 40 for only a few hours, but it felt great. I was still feeling the excellent Mexican food from the night before, we'd spent two hours surfing in the ocean, I was taking pictures with every camera I owned, and there was still more celebrating on the way,
