Jake, on the left, is my one year old standard poodle, and Lisette, on the right, is my ten year old. They always clean each others' faces and care for each other. Jake can still get a bit rowdy with Lisette with her puppy energy. But these tender moments, I find precious. Lisette had a much older "brother" (now passed on), who went blind. She understood that he could not see. She licked his eyes often, trying to heal him, and would guide him around. The bond between dogs is amazing.

I'm off to the NC mountains for a week of fall.
