Yoho Canoes

... on shore of Emerald Lake, Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. The lake is enclosed by mountains of the President Range, as well as Mount Burgess and Wapta Mountain.

This boathouse is a tourist center, but if you rent a canoe or rowboat you will discover a nearly untouched and beautiful nature !

The word "yoho" is a Cree expression of awe and wonder.

Long after the indians the mountain guide Tom Wilson rediscovered the lake in 1882. The story goes that he was led lakeside while rounding up a group of horses that had gone astray, and was immediately taken by the vivid Emerald-coloured waters...

...like so many visitors after him.
