Kanika Chorten !!
Kanika Chorten in Sani monastery (mostly called as temple) has a completely different shape of structural formation than the usual ones found in Buddhist religious institutions.
The name "Kanika" is stated to have been derived from the name of Kushan emperor of Gandhar, Kaniska, in the 2nd century BC, who had established the monastery in Zanskar valley and it is also stated to be the oldest buddhist religious institution in entire Ladakh Himalayas,
The monastery is largely referred to as temple, which is also a noticeable departure from the traditional references of religious sites in India.
