New Delhi India 10th June 1981

Little & Large.

Broad gauge Bengal Nagpur Railway class N 4-8-0+0-8-4 Garrett 815 at the Indian Railway Museum. This loco was built in Manchester in 1930 by Beyer Peacock & Co Ltd, works number 6594.

DHR 7728 is a 2 ft (610 mm) gauge narrow-gauge Sharp, Stewart 0-4-0ST B Class, a design built between 1889 and 1927 for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The numbering may well be incorrect as I cannot find a reference to 7728 and and the All-India number range ran from 777 to 806 for the 34 engines of this class.

One of the B Class, 778 has been preserved in the UK and is based at the Beeches Light Railway, a private railway in Oxfordshire.
