Fort William Scotland 10th August 2016

Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 44871 storms out of Fort William in the pouring rain with the afternoon Jacobite, the 14.40 to Mallaig.

A landslide south of Arisaig blocked the line the next day, Thursday, trapping this engine and its 300+ passengers in Mallaig. With the line still closed, on Friday & Saturday the Jacobite ran to Crianlarich much to the dismay of die-hard Harry Potter fans!

The only fixed signals left on the West Highland are at Fort William Junction (renamed from Mallaig Junction in recent years) and the Home signal has a sign on it recording "End of radio token working".
