"The Bhagavad Gita", the holy scripture of the Hindus is a part of the Sanskrit epic, "The Mahabharata" written by Sage Vyasa.
Lord Krishna is the hero of this great Indian epic.In the incarnation of the Lord as Krishna, he was brought up as an unknown cowherd though born in a royal family because of prevailing circumstances. He did many miracles and pranks as a child .
He became king later and He worked for peace between two royal clans , the Pandavas and Kauravas, who were actually cousins and nephews of Krishna.
The holy "Bhagavad Gita", is a part of the epic"Mahabharata".It contains the Lord's admonitions to Arjuna in the battle-ground is an allegorical depiction capable of bringing peace and clarity to a confused mind filled with turmoil and is a beacon-light for the Hindus.
It consisists of 18 chapters in which the attainment of self-realization is explained directly and also through allegory .
