Water and land (25)

Kenji Shimotori+Gyokuen Uchiyama

The Chinese character for "water", made from iron, and the character for "land", made from earth, express the meaning and background of the respective characters.

I tried to start my day early. As I have to catch the bus and train, it takes me a fair while to get to places I haven't been before, and then you have to walk. I wasn't taken witht the picture in the book, but mine aren't very good either. It was better than any of the pictures, and the description, for once, explains why there were metal plates all around these 'termites' nests'.

The thing I enjoy the most about this festival is that it does tie into the local people's feelings about the land and water. It also took me to some quite beautiful places that were a bit off the beaten track. Locals were out and about doing the same, though most of them had cars.

The third advantage were the stamps! Even if the exhibition was covered in snow, I wanted my stamp ;)
