263/365 Kill the Spare
No really.
Today, as I was just about to start the car and head back down to Richmond, my mom started shouting and pointing at my front left tire. I had a flat.
Exasperated, I called my car insurance company for a tow truck to come out and replace my tire for a whopping $75, cuz I didn't think about the fact that I have a spare, two jacks, and a tire iron in my trunk... oh, and neighbors. That didn't matter... because later on, our neighbor came to help me and we both found out that my spare is flat too!
Really?
I called my car insurance company back to cancel the tow service because they'd be wasting their time coming out here to replace a flat with a flat... and shockingly, the tow company told me there was a $45 cancellation fee. I begrudgingly agreed. I mean, it was $75 or $45. More on that later...
My neighbor and I took my tire to a local tire shop, where they patched it up in no time. For free.
That's when I started getting angry. The local tire shop patches my tire for free, but the tow company is charging me $75 or $45 for doing nothing?!
After getting a late start to my trip back to Richmond, everything ended up fine and dandy... except tomorrow, I'll be writing a strongly-worded email to my car insurance about the tow company they set me up with. Followed by some phonecalls. I am not losing $75 or $45 with nothing to show for it.
I did learn how to change a tire today. Add that to my ability to jump a car (though whether or not someone gets electrocuted in the process is a whole different story)!
