First Tour Complete
Avro Lancaster Bomber 'Just Jane ' and reenactors at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby Airfield.
The museum was established by two brothers as a memorial and tribute to Bomber Command crews and their eldest brother who lost his life on a bombing raid during WWII.
It's worth noting that less than 1 in 4 crews completed their first tour of 30 missions. The aircraft themselves would only achieve, on average about 40 hours flying before being destroyed by operational accidents or enemy action. In 1945 it took approximately 20,000 man hours to manufacture!!
