Ruggy the dog

I adopted Ruggy on Dec 17, 2009, after I saw him at a Christmas party at my place of work. One of our charity trees was for All Hearts Pet Rescue, and they brought Ruggy with them to pick up all the donations our company gave for this charity. When I saw him he seemed so timid and he was so thin. When I went to meet him I could see that he needed to be taken in to a good home where he could feel safe and get the care he needed. He needed me and I needed him. It's been over 9 months since we have had him and he is a part of our family. He is such a loving and friendly dog and never mean or aggressive. He was less than 24 pounds when I got him and he had flea bites on his back and neck, but now he is over 30 pounds and his coat is healthy. We found out that he was 8 years old when I adopted him and he was owned by a man who died 3 months before he was put up for adoption. He had been with the man's sister and she neglected him. She brought him to the shelter three weeks before I adopted him and he hadn't eaten much during that time. By adopting him, I saved his life and in return he has given us a fun and loving pet that loves to be petted and walked.
