Ghosts of Mono Lake
Explored at #65
Illuminated by the small headlamp my wife gave me to see my camera gear at night, the Tufa Towers of Mono lake suddenly appear out of the dark like ghosts, surrounding me and my camera. They were all around me and the ones in front of the camera reflect in the still waters of a small lagoon on the shores of Mono Lake.
I seldom do light painting in my photography. I think this may be the first I have posted. However the tufas turned out remarkably bright for the small LED light and even reflected nicely off the calm water. The light even penetrated the water to illuminate the surface below. A touch of green around the tufas on the right add to the colors and the midnight blue sky with some high clouds and stars peaking though made this one of the interesting shots of the night. Even though we had about a 3/4 full moon, the stars were bright pinpoints. Something I really miss seeing when I am at home in the city.
