The Fallen Sequoia Redwood becomes a Tunnel, Sequoia National Park California

Though they are the largest trees in the world, the Giant Sequoia Redwood

trees have a very shallow root system and sometimes a good wind will bring

one down. This one was made in to an attraction in Sequoia National Park

by cutting a hole big enough to drive a Hummer though with about 2 feet of

clearance on the top. It really gives you a scope of just how big these

trees really are and this wasn't one of the largest either. The fog added

to the mystique of the forest this day as they fade in the background.

California has the most National Parks of all the states and I had put off

going to this one thinking it was one of the least interesting. I could

not have been more wrong. Sure I had seen giant sequoia trees in other

parks such as Yosemite but it was nothing like Sequoia National Park. I

highly recommend a visit to one of the less visited National Parks in

California. The sheer size of these trees are astounding and the park has

some of the most massive. To walk though groves of these giants is truly

an experience you will not forget. The park is also located right next to

Kings Canyon National Park which makes for an extra good reason to go. I

thought the fog would run the trip but it actually enhanced the photography

considerably. Sometimes you couldn't see the tops of the trees but you'd

see limbs the size of a SUV in diameter. One of my more memorable trips.
