Yosemite Fire 2014

The fire started some time ago due to lighting and smoldered for days before erupting in to a huge fire. This shot was taken at twilight under a full moon when the color was most vibrant. The fire could be seen leaping from tree to tree up the steep terrain that makes Yosemite so famous. Helicopters had to evacuate climbers atop Half Dome. It was quite a site to see them land atop the dome and load people up for a thrilling ride over the cliff and quick drop to the Valley floor so they could return quickly to rescue more people. This is a natural process in Yosemite but has been made much worse by the lingering California Drought.
