Video of WMSR 734 attacking grade to station

If you are a railfan but unable to get to ride the WMSR, just turn up the sound! The guide announcer on the train said that the train attacked grades as much as 1.75 on the old Western Maryland and after switch nine on the old Cumberland and Pennsylvania on the way to Frostburg there were places it reached 2.8. Not sure the exact grade into the station but it is substantial and the locomotive reacted accordingly. Just listen to the exhaust bark. The WMSR offers many places to photo and video, however if you want some cool sound, compacted by the trees and funneled up the hill toward the station, at Frostburg go down to the edge of the passenger walkway and take your video recorder. Can't tell you how many times I have played this...think my wife is tired of it. 734 is an ex Lake Superior and Ishpeming #34 built by Baldwin in 1916. A husky 2-8-0 consolitation style locomotive. Nice strong hardworking steamer and does that coal smoke smell GOOD!
