DIY: pcm5102 'foam DAC' working ;)
the base system is a usb->i2s platform. I'm tapping into the i2s lines to drive this DAC chip.
3 wire ribbon cable carries i2s (bit clock, word clock, data), which comes from the pc via a usb port. that big atmel chip implements usb audio class 2 (asynch) at up to 192k/24bits. driverless on linux!
blue/red wire is power 5v and gnd. chip carrier uses 3 3.3v ldo regulators.
small blue wire is system clock (from either of the 2 xtals on the pcb). red/black wire is the line-out, going to the rca jacks.
