overclocking: doing the 'BSEL' mod

this shows the 2 pads that have to be connected to convert the chip from 800mhz FSB to 1066mhz.

this will convert my chip from a dualcore 2ghz to a dualcore 2.66ghz !

all for the cost of the 'windshield rear defogger repair kit' ($10) and an hour of your time.

update: so far, I've gotton this chip up to 2820mhz by setting FSB to 282mhz. my system thinks I have 'ddr 564' memory - ha!

UPDATE: I did this procedure on a lowly celeron 420D, today. it also starts out at 800mhz and when you connect those same traces, you raise it from 200mhz to 266mhz fsb. my 420D chip is now memtesting at 2.133ghz. the box says it should be running at 1.6ghz, though. I think the box is wrong (grin) ;)
