Izébel, Not Yet Wearing Purple
Izébel Vivant makes her debut with the Sharkbite Sideshow. It's a treat to see her perform with Sharkbite; for a couple of years now she and I have had a happy if occasional collaboration in making images, on stage and in the studio.
Izébel enters cocooned in her best "I Vant to be Alone" airs, hidden behind huge dark glasses, bulked up in a dark coat, buried inside a giant headscarf. To the gypsy strains of Gogol Bordello's Start Wearing Purple, she slips off her shoes and stockings and eases into something more, well, purple. The song lingers, and I'm still humming it a bit much later in the evening, after the show is over.
