Qingman Miao Village, nestled in the southern suburb of Kaili, bordering Zhouxi Village and Huangping County, Guizhou Province, southwest China, is one of the most prominent and populated Miao Villages within the Province.

 

In Kaili, as much as 96% of the regular residents are the Miao people and the second largest group is the Mulao group. More than a dozen Miao villages are sporadically scattered among the mountains but only a couple are opened to outsiders, among which Qingman and Xijiang are the most popular. The Qingman Village currently contains more than 300 households, accommodating over 1,600 populations. In the modern days, they are generally famed for their fabric-making and garment-producing techniques, silver wares, and their singing and dancing repertoire. The traditional Miao garment of flaming colors and complicated design, together with the exaggerating yet delicately hand-made silver jewelries, are serving just like portable museums around every corner of the street, presenting to you the essence of their culture. The craftsmanship of growing cotton, spinning the yarn, weaving and dying the fabric at home can still be seen in most households today
