Greyfriars Bobby

"Dogmania" | Smile on Saturday

This adorable wee face will be recognizable to people from around the world. Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who became known in the 19th century for spending 14 years faithfully sitting on his owner's grave in Edinburgh's Greyfriar's Kirkyard. When he finally died on 14 January 1872 he himself was buried just inside the gate of the cemetery. This famous statue of Bobby sits beside the pub named Bobby’s Bar not far from the kirkyard entrance.
