Tacca nivea (Bat flower)
An exceptionally good example of a Tacca flower, the white version. Tacca chantrieri is identical but glossy black, and a bit scary. Taken in the courtyard of "Jim Thompson's House", a tourist attraction in downtown Bangkok, built this century in a mix of old and traditional styles, all of wood. Jim Thompson was an American expat who helped revive the native Thai silk industry, so needless to say you can buy overpriced silk at the gift shop.
