Newgrange Tomb Entrance
These carved designs and the stones and tomb they adorn are over 5000 years old. Newgrange is the oldest man-made structure in the world, and was designed and built with seemingly primitive tools. This photo was taken only 7 days after the winter solstice alignment and illumination of the inner chamber. The caevings inside the tomb are equally amazing and geometrical. It is an enigmatic reminder of Irelands past inhabitants who built it long before the Celts arrived. Notice the early morning sun falling across the kerbstones.
