makayen moshkil (there's no problem)
slums, or bidonvilles...can be seen frequently throughout mid and southern Morocco. People move from the countryside into the cities looking for jobs but end up disappointed and become trapped in a life they do not want. The national government is working to help resolve the problems of poverty and substandard housing...but change is slow and resources are limited. This is the side of Morocco that Moroccans do not like for tourists to see, and many visitors turn a blind eye to the suffering in favor of remaining at upscale beach resorts and riyadhs away from the less affluent areas.
