little cabin on big mountain
a mountainside cabin is dwarfed by the grand beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains near Wintergreen, Virginia. A single low lying cloud glides silently through the valley upon a cushion of blue mist which lends its name to this ancient part of the great Appalachian mountain range in eastern North America. The Appalachians are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, formed roughly 480 million years ago during the Ordovician Period. They once reached elevations similar to those of the Alps and the Rocky Mountains before they were eroded over millions of years.
