River Crossing

Two fishermen give a man who was on foot a ride across the Oum er Rbia river in Morocco, to the town of Azemmour. The modern riverside walkway and medieval ramparts can be seen in the background. Sailors, merchants and fishermen have been using the river for trade, transportation and fishing for over 2000 years...dating back to the time of the Romans and Phoenicians. The town is suffering from overcrowding due to a recent influx of immigrating unemployed workers, and any route across the river is welcome during busy times when road traffic across the bridge can be congested and a bit hazardous to pedestrians.
