Friday-Love! ~ Silly Face Edition
Saweet Friday-Love is upon us!
We've made the milestone...
put another four day workweek behind us.
I think next week's another four dayer too.
That makes Friday twenty five percent of the workweek.
Two weeks in a row.
It feels so French.
I don't know if I could take any more fun though.
I gotta draw the line somewhere.
How much fun is too much fun?
If it was up to me this weekend would be some mellow time spent accomplishing absolutely nothing.
But the kids gotta have some fun.
Their daily requirement of fun is like four times the amount required for the typical adult.
They get fun-deficient for even a moment and you can see the look of horror fill their faces as they say 'I'm bored.'
You remember being bored?
I'd love to be bored one day.
It sounds really relaxing.
Think about it...
"I'm bored.'
That's like saying 'I've got absolutely nothing to do.'
Awwwww man that'd be kinda cool.
'Hey kid... I've made a to do list just about every day of the last ten years.'
I never finish all the stuff on the list.
I'm always migratin' half of it to tommorow.
I wanna be bored just once.
For old times you know?
We're gonna go launch our new model rocket in the park tommorow.
Last time we did that it crashed onto some cranky old dude's roof and he came runnin' outta the house.
Never did get that one back.
We got the extra super monster motors that'll make that thing go sky high.
I like it when the parachute doesn't come out and that little rocket turns around way up there and comes straight down picking up speed all the way and craters in at high speed to a chorus of 'wiiiiiiiiicked.'
Tommorow night we're gonna launch some chinese paper lanterns with our wishes for the new year written on them.
I hope they don't crash on cranky old dude's house.
Santa brought us all kinds of cool stuff like that.
Yesterday we put together a squishy human body... with all of the guts in it...
then we took it apart...
and put it back together...
about five times.
The kids are out of school until the ninth of January.
All they wanna do is have fun.
Which is cool because they motivate me like that.
I like how kids see the world.
It's filled with adventure, excitement, joy, euphoria, curiousity and silly photo opportunities for them.
I think the day you lose the urge to make a silly face picture is probably the day that life starts counting down instead of counting up.
I do dig some silly face picture action.
The rugrats wear me out man.
But I love it.
I'm forty one and a half or something like that.
Without the little ones I couldn't be out in the park shooting off model rockets...
or building 'squishy gut' people models...
I probably wouldn't be launching half a dozen big chinese paper lanterns at midnight tommorow either.
What I gotta do is get out and shoot some street.
The holidays are kinda demanding.
Maybe tonight I'll hit the pavement with my Nikon.
I hope you're recovering from your holidays.
At least enough to head out tommorow night and tear it up with someone you're crazy fuzzy in love with.
I'm gonna take it easy... launch those paper lanterns with my girls... get down with the couch and turn on the police scanner and listen to all of the craziness while I watch all the yahoos on TV gettin' crazy at midnight.
New Years and Halloween are the two best days to listen to the police scanner.
Anyone remember Ke$ia's interview with Ryan Seacrest last year?
We'll pop open a bottle of sparkling grape juice and pull out the noisemakers.
I've never gone out for New Years.
I kinda like it all mellow and quiet with the family.
Lookin' at the kids... being thankful for the year we've spent together...
thinkin' about the year ahead...
I'll be feelin' the love.
I hope you're feelin' it too.
If we're lucky we can stretch out the Friday-Love until Tuesday.
Let's make it a 'four day Friday-Love marathon weekend.'
Be cool, be safe, be silly...
feel the love...
and have a very happy New Year.
