Gilded Age Humor

by The Library of Congress

Welcome to Puck--a weekly humor magazine founded by the talented artist and cartoonist Joseph Keppler in the mid-1870s,
commenting on political and social issues of the day. Its popularity grew with the introduction of color printing, and it proved to be highly successful throughout the Gilded Age era and into the first decade of the 20th century. Represented here are examples of the first 25 years of Puck covers with a few later, post-Gilded Age, additions.
