Blue Sun Corp. Regional Office (Firefly)
(Formerly the Atari/Bushnell Building)
The inclusion of the Atari building in Huxley was Inspired by the ever-present Atari logo in the 1982 film, Blade Runner. The real Atari company cratered soon after (and, in the process, buried thousands of unsold/unplayable E.T. game cartridges in a New Mexico landfill). In the Huxley alternative timeline, Atari was able to not only survive the console wars of the 90s, but thrive because of their pioneering work in lucid dreaming. By the 21st century, they had become the de-facto supplier of in-memory suggestive experience. Why pay designers and artists millions to make an single representation of a concept? An unmutable image that may not appeal to everyone's sensibilities? It is much more profitable to *suggest* a concept and let each individual fill in their specific want, need, or desire.
