Valladolid-Iglesia Conventual de San Pablo

We had passed around Valladolid on a number of occasions on the motorway A62 always heading for somewhere else. On this occasion we had some time and had also been told of an excellently located Area de Auto Caravana. What a pleasant surprise Valladolid was, from the motorway it looks like a city of modern high rises but the centre is beautiful. A return is required, a better planned one for such a beautiful and historical city.

Sophisticated Valladolid offers an authentic Spanish city experience in the country’s traditional Catholic heartlands. Despite the fact it is a name few travellers are familiar with, it has hosted some key events in European history: Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, the great unifying monarchs, were married here; Philip II – creator of the Spanish Armada – was born here; and Christopher Colombus died here.
