Confluence of River
Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia...at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers.
The city was founded in 1857 by Chinese tin miners. In 1880 the British government transferred their headquarters from Klang to Kuala Lumpur, and in 1896 it became the capital of the Federated Malay States ~Columbia Encyclopedia.
At this confluence of Sungai Gombak (previously known as Sungai Lumpur, which means muddy river) and Sungai Klang (Klang River), and hence derived the name Kuala Lumpur which literally means “muddy estuary” in Bahasa Malaysia,
