Down and Out in Paris and London

Well, after my sad tale of my miserable day in London yesterday earlier today I looked through the photos I shot to see if I managed to capture anything of note and this capture stood out for me. The title by the way which I'm sure most of you know is a book title by George Orwell and follows his experiment with poverty in the cities of Paris and London in the late 20s. Its a grim book and I think it must have enforced Orwell's own socialist tendencies. At any rate when I saw this today it made me think of that book. I don't know if this chap really is down and out but I think anyone walking around in the pouring rain with an old woollen blanket wrapped around him can't be in the best of places. Perhaps highlighting how adversely this pandemic is effecting the displaced and homeless disproportionately to the rest of the population. It made me think that my slightly uncomfortable day yesterday wasn't the worst thing in the world after all. I at least had a warm home to return to. There are many that don't have that luxury.
