~ Charming Cafe ~

This charming cafe and restaurant, and also the main foyer was the only parts I could visit in Quitandinha, because was having an event and all the social part was reserved for it... It has

super cool rooms!

Constructed in 1944 to be the biggest casino hotel of South America, it was inspired in a Norman castle and, its interiors, are in "Hollywood" style, remembering scenes of American films. The rooms had been decorated by Doroth Draper, theatrical designer of famous films of Hollywood. Its halls can shelter simultaneously up to 10.000 people. The cupola of Mauá Hall is the greater of the world with 30m of height and 50m of diameter, being compared of the São Pedro's Cathedral cupola in Rome. In 1946, President Dutra forbade the game in the country and thus, Quitandinha did not obtain to survive as hotel… Today it is an apartment condo and the social part is used for congresses, events, shows and fairs.
