Gadwall x Northern Pintail Hybrid - 8946
Hybrid dabbling duck at Corte Madera's Shorebird Marsh. First photographed Oct. 16, when it was molting. Molt now complete, but the ID remains unclear. This apparent male dabbler associated strongly with the Northern Pintails, even fighting with one briefly over a spot on the mud bank. Thought by some to be a Northern Pintail x Green-winged Teal, but white speculum in another photo favors Gadwall x Northern Pintail.
