Slim Siding

Parallel tracks can be set apart at increments of 1 stud per 16 studs of track lengths using slack and stress connections. No parts are modified so this solution still falls on the conservative end of the LEGO "purity" spectrum.

The original old school switch points are designed to accommodate six stud wide rolling stock. Lateral shift makes it feasible to accommodate rolling stock of additional width provided rolling stock stays parked within the properly parallel track sections and not on the transitional sections.

This set up provides a narrower configuration than possible with 9V/PF switches. This may be suitable for yards or engine sheds.
