Green Perseid meteor strike, Mt Tahoma, Wa. 08-11-16
At Paradise Lodge parking lot, a group of 40 people, half from the PNW, the rest from Europe, Africa and Asia, ooh'd and ahh'd in unison every few minutes. Double the number of meteors were predicted from previous years, we saw about 30 per hour at 11pm- ish….Lots of smartphones w/ astronomy apps, cameras on tripods and a pair of retired science teachers w/ 3 large telescopes, laser pointers to guide folks through some great explanations of our world. I saw one stalwart soul with an 8x10 film camera pointed up at the Milky Way…. sure hope he got what he was after.
