Brown-veined White - Witgatwitjie (PIERIDAE)

Wild South Africa

Phalaborwa

Limpopo Province

My first butterfly in a year. Mostly all my butterflies are shot in the wild in the woodland adjacent to our town when I take my pointer for his (and my) exercise, and are mostly of the COMMON species. They, however, become VERY SPECIAL when you have to run after one and in the process expose yourself to snakebites, spiders and all other sorts of insects, even baboon, lion and leopard attacks. We do not have the luxury of butterfly farms and have to shoot handheld while most of the time out of breath as a result of all these activities.
