2012 KTA Viborg (drivers' training facility) - 21 (FF10257)

When the new ticket machines were introduced, one of the main features was the abilty to pay with a credit card. Unfortunately the system was severely flawed and quite often the machine would 'eat' the credit card. When this happened, the driver would, at first, try to remedy the situation, but this mostly failed and he/she would then need to call for technical assistance from a service van. This was, of course, totally unacceptable, but despite several attempts to get the problem solved, nothing helped and in the end, the only option was to stop the use of credit cards again. The card slot was covered with a plate and to this date you still can't use a credit card in Aarhus citybuses. This photo offers a rare view of how the machines looked during the short spell of the credit card payment option.

The small yellow machine on the right is for multi-ride tickets. The machines were often refered to as "Almex", the name of the maker. They were phased out a few years later.

Like several others of the year 2000 buses, 390 went on to serve at the training facility KTA Viborg, where it remains in service by early 2018.

2000 saw the arrival of the last batch of Volvo B10M buses to the fleet of Aarhus Sporveje.

The high-entry/high-floor buses had fallen out of favour with the decision makers, so the following year there would be drastic changes.

But for this final year, things were still like they used to be. Aarhus Sporveje purchased 19 standard length (12 m) buses like this one (fleet numbers 378 to 396) and two Volvo B10MA-55 18 m bendy-buses (fleet numbers 451 and 452... also the last of these)
