1 Thrown away
People lose pennies all the time and never think of it. Why would they it is worthless and will never amount to anything. The Rich toss them carelessly; the middle class chucks them away, while the poor may pick them up as if it were a glorious treasure. In society now a penny is worth almost nothing unless five of them are collected. The dollar has replaced the penny. Now you can hardly buy anything with fifty cents let alone a mere penny. In the olden days a child could go to a candy store with a single penny in hand and purchase a piece of candy.
