The Queen of the Desert - Central Asian Cobra (Naja oxiana)
The Central Asian Cobra is the furthest North-ranging species of the genus Naja (the true cobras), which includes more than 30 species in total. They are active hunters with a fast metabolism. Maybe that was our luck, as, contrary to vipers, they are not able to aestivate for longer periods even with intense heat.
Naja oxiana feeds mostly on small mammals, amphibians, occasionally fish, birds and their eggs. It also reportedly feeds on other snakes.
