on the mend

We tested for all the easy stuff (worms, diabetes, hyperthyroidism) but found no answers.

So Queequeg had exploratory surgery this week. The vet took samples from his liver, intestines, and pancreas in hope of discovering why he eats twice as much as a normal cat but keeps losing weight.

Poor little guy. The vet just called. He has severe chronic pancreatitis. This means he'll have to be watched closely for things like diabetes and pancreatic insufficiency. For now we're just going to modify his diet and see how he does.

Now he's home, beginning to eat and poop normally, and enjoying his favorite cat bed.
