BEAVER TEETH Cut Down this Tree (at Dharma Centre of Canada)
The teeth marks show this tree was felled by beavers and then abandoned, possibly because it's very heavy.
Castor canadensis = Beaver (North America)
Castor = genus
Castoridae = zoological family
Rodentia = zoological order
Photographed at the Dharma Centre of Canada, Kinmount, Ontario.
The bustling aquatic rodents haven't yet figured out how to use a pulley and wheels and there's a limit to how much they can carry and drag to their construction sites.
That's probably a good thing, because much of the planet would have been terraformed by beavers eons ago if they had more muscle and more sophisticated tools.
Wood Buffalo National Park (in Alberta & NWT) has the world's largest Beaver Dam (850-metre long / 2800 feet) which is visible from space.
