CANADA GEESE Standing on Beaver Lodge (at Dharma Centre of Canada)

This was a quick, hand-held, long-distance snapshot. The Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) flew away when I got closer. Good reason for an upgrade to my wildlife camera.

According to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, beaver ponds provide an ideal habitat for turtles and other marshland wildlife.

And picturesque beaver lodges make a smart perch for canny birds.

Branta canadensis = Canada Goose

Branta = genus (black geese)

Anatidae = zoological family (ducks, geese, swans)

Anseriformes = zoological order

Photographed at the Dharma Centre of Canada, Kinmount, Ontario.

Wood Buffalo National Park (in Alberta & NWT) has the world's largest known Beaver Dam (850-metre long / 2800 feet) which is visible from space.
