Sun Rays on Skyline Drive - Shenandoah National Park
Simplygeeky and I went to the park after work on Monday. She's been complaining all spring that she never gets to see bears. Adam and I have seen them all over the place, nearly every time we go to the park. I was hoping I could show her the spots where I've been seeing the extra-cute bear cubs this spring, and she'd be able to see them and get some great photos (she has a nicer telephoto than I do).
But, no luck -- we saw one yearling bear (which was significantly less cute than a newborn cub), a lot of cool clouds and some nice sun rays peeking through the steam from afternoon thunderstorms.
This sun ray photo was shot with a telephoto, white balance set to cloudy and underexposed by half a stop. Other than a slight crop, it's straight off the camera.
