Hike to Turk Mountain
On Saturday afternoon, Adam and I decided to go for a short hike in Shenandoah National Park. We don't spend much time in the park's southern district, but after one of my Flickr contacts (Alan) recommended Turk Mountain as a short, easy hike - we decided to give it a try.
It was a lovely walk and the color in the southern part of the the park was much brighter than it is in the central or north districts - lots of red. We were up there around 3:00 in the afternoon, so it wasn't a great time of day for photos. Nonetheless, I figured I'd share a few shots from the summit.
The Turk Mountain hike is a little under 2.5 miles. The trail is pretty gentle and is very well-maintained. Views from the summit (if it's not hazy) are spectacular.
